Shortly after speaking to Robert Gomez in early January 2012, Robert told me that he had entered the service with Albert Sansone via the ‘Buddy system’ as he called it.

Then, I received a veteran form with information on Albert Sansone.  The Marine Corp kept Robert Gomez and Albert Sansone together through training in the states, but when they were shipped out to Vietnam, they were split up. 
         
I called Albert Sansone on 1/17/12 and left a message thanking him for filling out the veterans form.  
Albert Sansone returned my call the next day and Albert told me he had talked to Robert Gomez and that Robert had sent the form in on Albert’s behalf.
 
          Albert Sansone went to Hackensack High School from 1964 to 1966 when he graduated.  Albert joined the Marine Corp with Robert Gomez in September of 1966 and served until September 13, 1970. 

Albert Sansone rose to the rank of Sergeant E-5. 

For his service Albert Sansone received the:

NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL,
VIETNAM SERVICE MEDAL, GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL MERITORIOUS UNIT CITATION, and the
COMBAT ACTION RIBBON.
